Four Ways To Beat The Winter Blues
With Retail Therapy!
So many of us suffer from the Winter Blues, it now even has a clinical name! Seasonal affective disorder is actually now considered a fairly common disorder, and those of us living in states less weather-blessed suffer the most. According to wikipedia, a whopping 9.7% of the population in New Hampshire is depressed in the Wintertime!
While I certainly can’t offer a cure, there are a few things I do during the Winter months to add a bit of brightness to those bleak Seattle days. Here’s my list!
1) Endulge in a hot, scented bath. Bath bombs are a great way to lift your spirits. Select a tropical, zesty, citrusy scent like Beau Bain’s Coconut Lemongrass. You can close your eyes, and imagine you’re sitting on a beach soaking in the sun.
2) Treat yourself to a cozy sweater. This sweater by Gaiam is made from 54% organic cotton and 47% bamboo rayon. Yes, it’s eco-friendly. It also happens to be the softest, warmest sweater I own that is still fashionable. The crisp green color makes up for the bare trees outside.
3) Brighten up your routine. Most of us wear dark, drab colors in the wintertime. Who says you need to be one of them? Urban Decay’s holiday nail kit contains some typical winter dark shades, but also a fabulous Emerald Green (Mars) and a bright fuchsia (Hot Mess).
4) Resolve to beat your winter blues with some spa time. Head to a local spa, for a bit of pampering and TLC. There’s nothing that can raise spirits quite like some “me” time. Select a bitterly cold, or terribly rainy day, so you can avoid the bad weather while you decompress.
